We're updating our checking account lineup. Here's everything you need to know about what's changing, what's staying the same, and how to make the most of your account.

General Changes

We're renaming and restructuring our two checking accounts. Daily Cash Back Checking is becoming Checking, and Daily Cash Back Checking with Power Up is becoming Checking Plus Power Up. Your account will be converted automatically — no action is required.

If you opened a Daily Cash Back Checking account or Daily Cash Back Checking with Power Up account before on or before April 30, 2026, this change will be effective June 1, 2026.

No. Your account number and debit card number will remain exactly the same. All scheduled transactions, direct deposits, and automatic payments will continue without interruption.

Yes. All members, with both Checking and Checking Plus Power Up, will continue to enjoy access to our network of over 85,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide.

Both accounts include a debit card, free digital banking, and access to 85,000+ surcharge-free ATMs. Zelle®, mobile check deposit, and other digital banking features are also unchanged.

If You're Not Powered Up

If you have Daily Cash Back Checking and are not Powered Up, you'll be converted to Checking. It's still free and still includes your debit card, digital banking, and access to 85,000+ ATMs.

Daily cash back on debit purchases will no longer be included with Checking. However, you can Power Up your account at any time to get daily cash back — plus a full suite of money-saving perks — for just $6.99/month.


Checking Plus Power Up members earn cash back daily on every debit card purchase, plus get a premium metal debit card1, roadside assistance2, fuel savings3, cell phone protection2, telehealth4, ID theft protection5, shopping discounts, and more.

The 24-hour Courtesy Pay grace period is not included in Checking, but it is included with Checking Plus Power Up. If this benefit is important to you, consider upgrading.

You can upgrade anytime through First Service Digital Banking. Simply navigate to Power Up in the menu and select the toggle to Power Up. You can also stop by any First Service branch and speak with a representative.

Yes! If you'd like to upgrade to Checking Plus Power Up, you can do so anytime through First Service Digital Banking or by visiting a branch.

Checking Plus Power Up is $6.99/month or $79.99/year and includes everything in Checking plus:

The standard price for Power Up will continue to be $6.99/month or $79.99/year. No change there.

Yes! Daily cash back on all debit card purchases is included with Power Up. Cash back is deposited into your account every day.

Yes. All your Power Up benefits carry over to Checking Plus — including a premium metal debit card1, 24/7 roadside assistance2, fuel savings3, cell phone protection2, telehealth4, ID theft protection5, shopping discounts, and more.

If you currently have Checking Plus Power Up (formerly Daily Cash Back Checking with Power Up) and prefer to downgrade to the free Checking account, please contact us by calling 713-676-7777 or visiting a branch. After your conversion, you can still opt out of Power Up at any time through Digital Banking or by contacting us.

Yes. You can opt in or out of Power Up at any time through First Service Digital Banking or by contacting us.

The metal debit card will automatically be mailed to the address on file after having paid for 12 months of Power Up. If paying monthly, it will be sent after the 12th month. If paying annually, it will be sent within the first month.

Available for the account holder and their spouse/domestic partner and up to six (6) dependent children age 2 and older. This is not insurance. Program may be subject to change. Registration/activation required.

Borrow from $1,000 to $65,000 annually (loans are certified by the school and may not exceed full cost of education minus other financial aid) - maximum aggregate loan limit is $150,000, inclusive of all student loan debt. Program loans may be used to cover educational expenses for academic periods that end up to 90 days prior to the application date.

Courtesy Pay is subject to a 90 day waiting period for new accounts and member must meet Courtesy Pay Qualifications. Opting into Courtesy Pay covers checks and ACH transactions plus one-time debit and ATM transactions. Transactions exceeding your established limit (and other types of transactions) will not be covered. For members with Power Up, Courtesy Pay charges are waived if the negative balance for that individual transaction is cured within 24 hours.
